What makes an Etsy title work in 2026
In 2025 Etsy updated the title guidance in its Seller Handbook. The short version, as summarised by eRank when it rolled out: keep titles under about 15 words, say what the item is first, don't repeat words, drop filler like "perfect" or "beautiful", and leave out price, sale and shipping information, which Etsy shows separately.
That reverses a lot of older advice to fill all 140 characters with keyword phrases. The reasoning is simple: shoppers skim, and a title they cannot read at a glance loses the click even if it matches the search. Etsy still matches your tags, attributes and category to searches, so the title no longer has to carry every phrase.

Insight: Read your title on a phone, in the search grid, before you publish. If the first line does not tell a stranger what the product is, no amount of keywords later in the title will earn the click.
