Marmalead is a paid Etsy SEO tool that scores keywords by searches, engagement and competition, and drafts titles, tags and descriptions with its Marma AI assistant. It costs $19 a month, $53 a quarter or $190 a year, with no free plan. It suits sellers who already have listings and want to sharpen them.
Marmalead is a keyword research and listing-optimisation tool built only for Etsy. Its core screen takes a phrase — say wedding seating chart — and reports how many Etsy searches it gets, how strongly buyers engage with results for it, and how many listings compete for it, alongside example products. A compare view puts several candidate phrases side by side.
Around that sit three newer features that change how it is used day to day:
A Chrome extension brings Marma alongside Etsy's own listing editor; its Apply buttons fill the fields, and you still review and save in Etsy.
| Billing | Price | Effective monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $19 | $19.00 |
| Quarterly | $53 every 3 months | $17.67 |
| Yearly | $190 | $15.83 |
| Lifetime | $300 once | — |
Pricing checked October 2026 via SellerToolsHQ's review. No free plan or trial was listed; confirm current terms on Marmalead's site before you pay.
Insight: Lifetime at $300 breaks even against yearly billing in just under 19 months and against monthly in under 16. It is the cheapest option only if you are sure you will still be selling on Etsy — and still using keyword tools — in two years. Most new sellers are better off paying monthly until they know.
Choosing between near-equal phrases. Search volume alone often cannot separate seating chart template from wedding seating chart. Engagement can: if buyers favourite and click results for one far more, that phrase converts better and is the stronger title lead.
Rewriting listings that already sell. Boost SEO plus Etsy Stats is a strong combination. Take a listing with steady views, compare Marmalead's suggested title with yours, and test the change for 30 days.
Learning buyer language. Customer Voice pulls the phrases buyers use in reviews — "easy to edit in Canva", "printed perfectly on A4" — which make better description copy than anything a seller invents.
The metrics only matter if each one changes something you do. This is how to read them:
| Metric | What it tells you | Decision rule |
|---|---|---|
| Searches | How often buyers type the phrase | Below a few hundred a month, use it as a tag, not a title lead |
| Engagement | How strongly buyers interact with results | Between two similar phrases, lead the title with the higher-engagement one |
| Competition | How many listings target it | High competition plus high engagement: worth it only for a strong listing with reviews |
| Example products | What already ranks | If the top results are a different product type, the phrase is not yours |
A worked comparison for a printable seating chart: seating chart template and wedding seating chart show similar search counts, but engagement for wedding seating chart is markedly higher because buyers searching it are mid-planning and ready to buy. Lead the title with Wedding Seating Chart Template, keep seating chart template as a tag, and add seating plan as a tag for UK buyers who use that word instead.
The last row is the one most sellers skip. If the top results for a phrase are physical acrylic signs and your product is a printable PDF, the phrase belongs to a different buyer — no amount of keyword data will make those buyers convert on a download.
No free tier. You pay before you know whether the extra data changes your decisions.
Drafts need checking. Marma AI writes plausible copy; it does not know your file includes a dated 2027 calendar unless you say so. Every AI-written tag must still describe your actual product.
It does not touch the product. Like every keyword tool, Marmalead cannot tell you whether your design, colours or file formats will convert — and for digital products those decide most sales.
| Tool | Best at | Free plan | Paid from | AI listing drafts | Designs the product |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marmalead | Engagement scoring, AI drafts | No | $19/mo | Yes (Marma AI) | No |
| eRank | Cheap keyword volume, audits | Yes | $5.99/mo | Limited | No |
| EverBee | Estimated product sales | Yes, limited | $29.99/mo | No | No |
| Alura | Keywords plus listing editor | Limited | varies | Yes | No |
| Craftific.com | Designing, exporting and listing | Yes | $19/mo (Pro) | Yes | Yes |
The fair summary: Marmalead is a sharpening tool, not a starting tool. If you have listings that get views, it helps you turn them into sales. If you have no product yet, no keyword tool will help as much as making one.
Small shops get the least from paid keyword data because they have the fewest listings to sharpen. If that is you, spend the first three months making products and use free tools; revisit Marmalead when you have 20 or more listings and at least a few with steady views to test against.
Before you subscribe: write down the three decisions you expect the data to change — which title phrase to lead with, which listings to rewrite, which new product to make. If you cannot name them, the tool will not change them either.
For the method behind all of this, see Etsy keyword research and the full Etsy SEO guide.
No free plan is listed. At $19 a month it is more than three times eRank's $5.99 Basic plan, so test your keyword process on a free tool first and move to Marmalead when you know which data you are missing.
Marmalead's AI assistant. You give it the facts about a product and it drafts a title, tags and description, then answers follow-up questions about wording. It saves time; check every draft for claims your product does not support.
Different strengths. eRank is cheaper and has a usable free plan; Marmalead adds engagement scoring and AI drafting. Most sellers start on eRank and switch only if engagement data changes their decisions.
How strongly buyers interact with listings for a phrase, beyond just searching it. Two phrases with similar search counts can differ sharply in engagement; the one buyers click and favourite more is usually the better target for a new listing.
For a shop with 30 or more listings and steady sales, often yes — sharpening titles on listings that already convert is where keyword data pays most. For a shop with five listings and no sales, the $19 is better spent on making more products.
From your account settings before the next billing date. The lifetime option ($300 once) avoids renewals altogether, but only makes sense if you are certain you will use the tool for more than 16 months.
Etsy Stats does something no outside tool can: it shows the exact searches that brought buyers to your own listings, and which of them turned into orders. Use Marmalead to choose phrases for new or weak listings, and Etsy Stats to confirm which ones worked.
